Tangled Web
Izzy Izzy
An unabashed tomboy-now-grown, Isabel ("Izzy" to her friends) segued to computer geek just as "geekiness" lost its stigma. Though happily unattached, our heroine's biological clock nonetheless pines daily... for a puppy. As a graphic designer for a small World Wide Web firm, she doesn't make much, but does enjoy inserting subliminals into the sites of trying clients.
Noel
As Izzy's supervisor at the firm, wunderkind Noel is smarter than the general populace and knows it. He likes people, but is dismayed that they can't be a little more like the computers that he can reassemble blinfolded. Noel's darkest secrets: years of training as a classical cellist and a long-standing crush on Izzy.
Noel
Henry Henry
The loose cannon of the crew. Henry is a hockey enthusiast who still has milk-crate shelves and a couch in his grassless yard. Not known for his social graces, Henry must constantly be reminded that shoes are compulsory at work. Luckily for him, he also happens to be one of the best programmers in the business.
Grace
Izzy's neighbor and a longtime denizen of the other apartment over the deli. Also single and about Izzy's age, she works as a hotel chef and agonizes over whether to stick with it or go back to school to study criminology. Grace regards "Baywatch" as the lowest form of trash TV -- which is why she only watches it when she's too tired to get up and change the channel after "Cops."
Grace
Duncan Duncan
The guileless Peter Pan ex-boyfriend. Though friendly and decent, Duncan is arguably the laziest human who ever lived. This hasn't hurt his prospects, however, as good fortune tumbles into Duncan's lap as if Demeter herself held a horn of plenty aloft above him. His current occupations: engagement to a wealthy, gorgeous woman. Guaranteed cushy job. Free house. Shrieking panic.
Gwen
Duncan's new fianceé. Gwen isn't from quite the same planet as the other characters; to her, "summer" and "winter" are verbs. She currently dabbles in modeling, mostly as a means of escaping the crushing boredom of the country club. Her secret dream: to throw on some pajamas and go to the drive-in in the bed of a pickup truck along with everyone else.
Gwen
Ted Ted
Landlord to Izzy and Grace. Ted is an ex-biker of mysterious means and few words who won the apartment building in a poker game hosted in its ground-floor deli. He resides in the garage on the alley, where he reads volumes by James Joyce sheathed in old 'Easyriders' magazine covers.
Mr. Grumpus
The Walter Mitty of felines, Izzy's fat gray cat does all of the standard cat things: sheds, lugs home headless rodents, shreds the drapes, and expects to be lavishly praised for these contributions to the household.
